Friday Dec 31

Allowed to sleep late and then a breakfast meeting with Rev Alison at 9:AM.
Breakfast of fresh pineapple, mango, banana, orange, papaya, eggs, breads and cereal at the Namirembe cafeteria.  Alison will briefed us on the mission's schedule and local customs then a tour of Kampala with a bag lunch from the Narirembe cafeteria. Traffic should be ok because most people stay home for New Years.  After the tour, we will visit Uganda Christian University and the Anglican Seminary.  Nearby, we will visit the Uganda Water Missions International headquarters and the Stone Foundation Orphanage which was started by retired Arch Bishop Nkoyoyo (remember he visited St Johns about 3 years ago.)
The hope is to get back early and rest up for our 6 hour trip tomorrow to Gulu, Bishop Johnson's home.  Pray for us to have open hearts to whatever God is doing so we can fully join in His work!

The Team

Leila Baldwin, Peter Tetrev, Greg Snyder, Thom Pennington, Clair Miller, Emily Rudolph

We've landed!

The team has landed safely and is settled into their rooms in Campala.  What a looooonnnnng trip!  Almost 20 hours in the air!  Everyone is tired but safe and sound.  Father Greg's luggage hasn't arrived yet so pray that he gets everything soon.  Thanks for all your prayers.  It is great to be on solid ground again.  We love you all!  Our time difference is 8 hours so we are headed to bed.  More later!

We are on our way!

The Uganda Mission Team is on their way.  Should be landing in Entebe around noon today our time.  They all left with a great sense of joy, anticipation and not much anxiety - the Lord is truly in this.  They had a great flight from Charleston to Detroit and from there an 8 hour flight to Amsterdam.  A quick turnaround and they were on their next 8 hour flight over Europe and northern Africa to Uganda.  Keep up those prayers.  We, the senders, are the most critical part of the team, keeping the hands and feet of service protected and filled.  Pray!

New Missions Blog! --Upcoming Uganda Trip

Hi everyone!
The Missions Board at St. Johns Parish, Johns Island has started this blog that our church will use to document the mission trips our parish is a part of. While parishioners are on trips, they will be able to update the blog (as much as they can) so that everyone back at home can keep up with how the trip is going and how they can be praying for the team.
So, stay tuned!! We have a team of 5 (Father Greg Snyder, Thom Pennington, Emily Rudolph, Leila Baldwin, and Clair Miller) who are heading to Uganda on December 29 and staying there until January 12. They will be the first team to try and update the blog while they are there, (if they have internet), so check back for updates about the trip and how you can be praying!
